Why clean copied text?
Text you copy from the web arrives stuffed with invisible junk: smart quotes that break code, non-breaking spaces that break search, nested spans and styles that break your CMS. Clean Copy strips all of it and gives you predictable output:
- Markdown mode keeps the structure that matters — headings, bold/italic, links, lists (including nested ones), code blocks, and tables (converted to pipe-separated Markdown tables).

Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion is pure JavaScript running on this page. Your text never touches a server.
What's the difference between this and the browser extension?

Does it work offline?
Yes — once the page has loaded, you can disconnect and keep converting.
Which HTML elements are converted?
Headings h1–h6 (#…######), bold/strong (**), italic/em (*), links [text](url), images , ordered and unordered lists including nesting, code blocks (```), inline code (`), paragraphs, line breaks and horizontal rules. Everything else is stripped to plain text.
What are WikiLinks?
WikiLinks are the double-bracket links Obsidian, Roam and similar
note apps use: [[Page name]]. In WikiLinks mode, links that
point inside the same site become [[Page name]] so they
connect to your notes, while external links stay as normal Markdown.

Can I get tables as CSV?
Yes — pick CSV mode. Every HTML table in your text becomes comma-separated rows (RFC 4180), ready to paste into Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Cells containing commas or quotes are escaped automatically, and the download button then saves a proper .csv file.
Can I paste raw HTML?
Yes. If your clipboard contains actual HTML markup (e.g. copied from an editor's code view), use the source of this trick: paste it into the field — the tool detects raw tags starting with "<" and converts them directly.
